Hi Gals! Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve posted…I’ve been traveling quite a bit, dealing with the flu and also been having a little bit of writer’s block..but I’m back now and determined to keep this up!
And what better time to get back in the zone, it’s Women’s Month! Our day is March 8th, but for me, it’s all month long and if I’m being honest, it really is an all year celebration for me. Those that know me, know I love to celebrate everything and I’m very pro woman. This is probably because I come from a long line of strong women, my mum and aunties have been a powerful influence in the way I think, plus I also have 3 wonderful sisters who push me to be better.
So when I came across this TED talk about how young women see themselves with regards to sexuality, pleasure and intimacy, I knew I had to share with you. Especially because this is not something that’s discussed often.
I have a few friends who’ve started popping out babies and given the way young girls are socialized in North America and Africa (in my experience), this is a refreshing perspective that made me reflect on things and has inspired me to want to do better in the education of young girls. All my friends, sisters, family members should take this as a warning, I’m going to be that aunt that talks to your children as adults and tells them the truth. That is something I know I appreciated growing up. So you’re welcome!
Let me know what you think? When you reflect on your own experiences, how does this relate?
